2/28/11-3/4/11
We have a new addition to our PE program that will be introduced to my students this week. Coach Every's students will take part in an "Exer-gaming," lesson in the Mini-Gym. We will utilize a dancing video game that has already proved to be both fun and exciting to our students. The benefits of sustained dancing achieved in this dancing unit are, cardiovascular endurance, rhythm, motor coordination and planning just to name a few and not to mention its just plain old fun. Our younger students will also take part in motor development lessons this week.

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and President's Day. Coach Every's classes will complete our kickball unit this week. Our students have been working hard in class and employing good kickball / baseball strategy in our games. We look forward to another great week in PE.

The Final Trimester of PE Begins..... :0)
Are we really into the 3rd Trimester of school already? Each trimester our students have been and will be taught primarily by one of our three PE coaches. This trimester I will have the pleasure of teaching the students of Mrs. Minke, Mrs. Owen, Mrs. McKenzie, Mrs. Hensler, and all of the fourth grade girls. As with the previous trimester, at least one day a week will be reserved for a large group game or rotation of games. During these days all students will receive instruction from all three PE coaches. My classes will begin the third trimester with our kickball unit. Our younger students will play modified games that emphasize kicking and base running skills. 2nd -4th grade students will play actual games of kickball/tee-ball/softball with a major focus on the rules and strategy of the game. We look forward to an equally exciting trimester in physical education.

Rounding out the 2nd Trimester
Coach Every’s classes will be revisiting games from previous units. We will play some old favorites and enjoy our time together as the trimester comes to an end. The games we plan to play will be beanbag kickball, Tylenol ball, four corner relay and Never Out. Second, Third, and Fourth graders will revisit games of 4-Square, basketball and softball. We had a wonderful trimester in physical education, while having so much fun along the way. We look forward to an equally exciting trimester next term.
