Back into the swing of things
The PE staff is excited to be back into the swing of things. Coach Every's younger student's will continue locomotor games and assessments, rock wall training, and fitness games this week. Our older students will begin the fall installment of the Presidential Fitness Challenge. The challenge consists of five fitness tests, Sit-Ups, Sit & Reach, Shuttle Run, Pull Ups / Arm Hang and of course the mile run. Students are competing against themselves and should base their success off of their own baseline scores that will be recorded this week. We look forward to the third and fourth graders trying their best and improving their physical fitness as the year progresses. Due to the poor weather this Monday we even got to play a little Just Dance on the Wii.

Welcome Back
I truly hope you all had a wonderful summer vacation. I feel recharged and excited for another great year at Shorecrest and hope you feel the same. I will be co-teaching Alpha and JK this year along with Coach Pope and Coach Cameron. Grades K-4 with be working primarily with one coach per trimester. My classes are Conroy, Owen, McKenzie, LaDuke and the boys from Telemachos and Hughes. This week will be spent working on team building skills, the rock wall, routines and getting PE uniforms and locker room procedures taken care of for our fourth graders. Kindergarten and First grade students will be taught a diverse curriculum with strong foundations on loco-motor skills, sending (throwing, kicking, hitting etc.), receiving (catching) and fitness skills. They will also participate in modified versions of our sport units this trimester. Students in grades 2-4 will participate in the Presidential Fitness Challenge and units of kickball, four square, lacrosse, and golf this trimester, just to name a few. I am very much looking forward to the year ahead and working with such wonderful students and families.
